This is a run-of-river hydropower project located on the Nalter river, a left bank tributary of Hunza River near Gilgit city, Northern Areas, Pakistan. Preliminary studies of Nalter -V was first mentioned as part of the master plan for electrification of Northern Areas of Pakistan on the basis of proximity power. The project envisages a Tyrolean type diversion weir across Nalter Gah which diverts water in to concrete lined power canal of 450 m length. The gravel and sand trap is also provided. The forebay is provided at the end of power canal. A 4.12 km steel Penstock link the forebay and powerhouse. The discharge and head is 9.45 m3/s and 309.75 m, respectively. The powerhouse is open type and will house three numbers Pelton wheel. The project will be connected to local network
